Maria Poviones-Bishop teaches in the Department of Religious Studies at Florida International University. She received an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology. After more than ten years in the computer business and business management, she returned to school in 1999 to pursue an M.A. in Religious Studies. She expects to graduate in 2002. Her areas of interest include Myth and Ritual, Caribbean Religion, Native American Religion, the Psychology of Religion, and Women & Religion.
